Settling Into Shrewsbury

The River Severn: "The Severn doing its thing—wrapping itself around Shrewsbury and making every riverside walk a bit magical.

Last year, me and my partner Seb moved from the Wirral to Shrewsbury after he landed a job as a language teacher at a school in the area. A lot has happened in the initial six months here, but I still feel I haven’t quite melted into the pot that is Shrewsbury just yet.

Oddly, I feel a bit like a foreigner here, which is strange considering Seb is the actual foreigner. I suppose this might be what he felt like when he moved over from Germany, but I’m not sure it’s affecting him in the same way it’s affecting me.

I’ve always been more of an outgoing person—or at least I used to be. My brain still wants to be, but life's slowed me down a bit over the years. I’m sure it will take time to feel fully settled here, though. The area really is lovely, with its independent shops and countless places waiting to be explored.

It feels like Shrewsbury has a lot of potential to become a home that inspires me, but it’s a matter of getting out there and letting it happen. For now, I’m taking small steps, and I’m excited to share some of the photos I’ve taken so far—they remind me of the charm this town holds, even if I haven’t fully embraced it yet.

The Dingle: "A little slice of colourful calm right in the middle of town. Perfect for a wander (or a sit-down if you’re feeling lazy like me).

Me and Seb – Just two slightly lost souls figuring out life in Shrewsbury. It’s a work in progress, but at least the backdrop’s nice!
